How does AskAlex work?

AskAlex takes your content and breaks it up into chunks of text, then maps it in space based on the content of each chunk of text. We can do this hundreds of times for each page of content, or paragraph on each page for example. It does the same with the question you ask and tries to find the closest chunk of text in space to the question you have asked (indicating that the question and chunk of text are similar or related). Once AskAlex has both the question and chunks of text, it puts them into a GPT 3.5 Turbo model (like you would use in chatGPT) and asks it to answer your question using those pieces of text. The answer provided by AskAlex is what you see displayed to you.

Can’t I do this myself with OpenAI?

You could spend hours training the conversation models using embeddings and then fine-tuning the context of the conversations using the fine-tuning models. This is hours of work that requires you to understand APIs and various programming languages. Or you can just upload your content to AskAlex and be operational within minutes.

Are the answers provided by AskAlex reliable and accurate?

Yes, you can rely on the answers provided by AskAlex. The model is trained to ensure that it only answers questions truthfully and in a factually accurate manner.
